History of the brand: in1943Canada's T. Eaton Department Store introduces "SOLAR", their own in-house brand. This extremely successful line of watches is manufactured for Eaton by both Gallet and Rolex in Switzerland.
Here we have a vintage watch where the Canadian retailer Eaton's branded watches under the name SOLAR, often using high-quality Swiss movements from makers like Gallet, with some even commissioned alongside Rolex, but this particular watch is a Gallet-made SOLAR by Eaton's, not a Rolex, featuring a stainless steel case, Swiss manual wind movement, and a design typical of mid-century Swiss timepieces, often with quality dials and cases.

The Solar Aqua was a Canada's Eatons brand name model which sold through their stores. Used on a number of different companies models.Eaton's was a Canadian Department Store (not a watchmaking business). They purchased watches from various watch manufacturers and sold them under the trademark Solar which was registered by T. Eaton & Co. / The T. Eaton Co. Ltd. in 1926. Not all “solar “ sold by Eaton were Rolex, however, we can really conclude this was probably made by rolex, as Gallet and Rolex made watches, and caliber Is presumed to be a FHF modified probably by rolex.
