Gallet Racine Decimal Multichron Chronograph 1950s Rare Vintage Racing Watch

Brand : Gallet Type : Wristwatch Department : Men Bezel Type : Decimal Features : Chronograph This rare double-signed Gallet Racine Decimal chronograph dates to the 1950s as part of the MultiChron family for timing sporting events and medical examinations or other scientific experiments. The outer-scale (in red) helps the wearer divide time in to 1/100s of a minute, and not the normal 1/60s. Inside, the watch houses the celebrated EP4 (Excelsior Park) movement. On the outside, an original silver sunburst dial with gorgeous blued hands. The case is approximately 38mm. Everything is properly functional on the watch, including all the pushers and subdials and the center seconds. Keeping good time. The watch has not been recently serviced. Some scratches on the crystal but very very wearable as is. Gallet was formally established in 1826 by Julien Gallet, known for pioneering specialized chronographs for aviation, military and motorsports, including the watch that timed the Wright Brothers' first flight. They also created the first waterproof wrist chronograph (clamshell). Jules Racine & Co. acted as Gallet's distributor in North America, and a cousin of the Gallet brothers founded Racine, leading to shared designs and components. Breitling acquired Gallet in 2025 and plans to relaunch the brand in 2026, so Gallet is about to get some shine and attention. Everything is original. The watch has not been fully serviced since the owner acquired it 25 years ago. It was been wound about three times a year since then. Any questions just ask..
