Gallet MultiChron Regulator

Description

Windsor Jewels Gallet MultiChron Regulator | Chronograph | Up & Down | 2nd series | Vintage 1940s

GALLET | MultiChron "Regulator" 100% Original Vintage Dial 1940s The MultiChron Regulator (Regulateur) chronograph, introduced by Gallet in 1929, represented a milestone for the professional timekeeping genre. Specifically designed for applications that prioritized the recording of events over displaying the time of day, the hour and minute hands occupied a less significant position on the dial (face). This unique configuration allowed for a clear unobstructed view of both the button activated sweep second hand and the minute counter. Soon after its introduction, the Gallet Regulator became the time recording instrument of choice for pilots, doctors, technicians, and sports professionals, and was the first official wrist-worn chronograph of the Indianapolis 500 races. The Regulator was originally produced with a single pusher to start, stop, and reset the timer mechanism. The 2nd series, with an additional pusher, provided the wearer with the ability to start and pause the timer without fully resetting the timer hands back to zero. Internal company documents from 1929 show that Gallet acquired exclusive control of the calibre 140 movement from the Venus company and supplied "private-labeled" Regulator watches to Rolex, Girard Perregaux, Harvard and other Swiss manufacturers. We have here for you a Gallet MultiChron Regulator 2nd series exceptionally well-preserved - including the 100% original dial in outstanding collector`s condition. A very perfect example of a collector's dream!
