Favre-Leuba Deep Blue 59603

Description

Favre Leuba Deep Blue ref. 59603 - Great patina

Favre-Leuba is one of Switzerland's oldest watch manufacturers, founded in 1737 — a lineage that most of its more celebrated competitors cannot match. The Deep Blue, produced in the 1960s, was the maison's serious entry into the dive watch market: rotating bezel, water resistance, bold legibility, and the distinctive arrow-tipped hands and indices that give it an immediately recognisable character. This particular example has lived a life. The dial has transformed over decades into something that no restoration could produce and no new watch could wear: a textured, mottled surface of gold, cream, and shadow, where the original black has retreated to reveal the underlying layers in a pattern as unique as a fingerprint. The orange-tipped arrow hands and matching indices still read against it — a testament to the quality of the original construction. The "Deep Blue" signature remains legible at 6 o'clock, as does the date aperture. The black bezel retains its insert in good condition, and the overall case presents with the honest wear of a tool watch that has been used as intended but probably unpolished. Te caseback itself is a joy to watch. For the collector who understands that a dial like this cannot be ordered — only found. And that finding one is half the pleasure.
