Founded in 1999, F.P. Journe is perhaps one of the most highly regarded watchmakers in the industry thanks to the prolific abilities of its eponymous founder as a truly generational talent. Described as the "ultimate chronometer" by Francois-Paul himself, the Chronometre Optimum is designed to maximize efficiency within the movement, with as few parts used as possible, resulting in minimal friction, a constant force on the escapement, and an escapement that does not require lubrication to ensure stability. With its natural remontoir dead-beat seconds display viewable through the exhibition caseback, the Chronometre Optimum's secret reveals itself for its wearer only, with its dial-side seconds display running at a standard 3Hz. The dial side of the watch is also home to the hours and minutes display with a 70-hour power reserve indicator and an aperture at 11 o'clock that displays the wheel of the remontoir powering the dead-beat second's hand on the movement that ensures the balance's isochronism. An exceptional piece of Haute horology, the Chronometre Optimum is a genuinely mind-blowing example of F.P. Journe's proficiency as a watchmaker. Made of white gold and whitened guilloché silver, the Chronometre Optimum features the same dial layout as any F.P.
