Indeed, his highly eccentric design philosophies which were, at first, polarising within the small community of Journe enthusiasts, eventually proved to be an instrumental component of his meteoric success. Throughout his collections, Journe has always strived to present a design that looks and functions differently to the traditional Swiss offerings, often further improving usability. The present Octa Quantième Perpétuel is no different. The perpetual calendar is one of the most hallowed complications in watchmaking, and the Octa Quantième Perpétuel was Journe’s first ever standard perpetual calendar offering, following on from the acclaimed Octa Calendrier perpetual limited edition. To mark the occasion, the new Octa featured a wholly new dial layout with four instant-change dial windows displaying the perpetual calendar information, never before seen in the industry and allowing for at-a-glance legibility. Additionally, he also built in a quick-set lever beneath the top right lug to quickly cycle through the calendar, negating the need for a setting pin, a true innovation. These quality of life improvements are hallmarks of Journe’s design ethos and the Octa Quantième Perpétuel represents some of the best of contemporary Journe.
