A large Calatrava case in stainless steel. The gilt minute track and small seconds printing reflect light like plating, creating a sharp‑faced appearance. The indices are luminous, all‑Arabic and military‑like. The hands are tapered pencil‑type at the base, with a characteristic pear‑grain finish and color, and feature luminous material at the centre. Regarding condition, the case shows only minor scratches and shows no signs of polishing. The lug edges and the soft shape of the bezel retain the original proportions of the case, which balances strength and elegance. Considering the year, the dial’s mirror aging is minimal. Some slight speckling along the edges from age is visible, but it is not noticeable to the naked eye. The sub‑dial is perfect. The lume is moderately burned, giving a pleasing hue. The hands have received a moderate amount of aging and are in decent condition. A video is provided. Eterna, known for producing many large‑cushion cases for Czechoslovak military officers, made the jumbo Calatrava as a rare piece. The equipped Caliber 852 is a large movement exceeding 30 mm in diameter, an unusual size for its time. Its robust construction and the ability to place the small seconds hand without it being too close to the centre on such a large dial give it a well‑balanced layout, leading to a recent re‑evaluation of the movement. At our shop it has been serviced, offering a 51‑hour power reserve and a daily gain of +10 seconds, running smoothly. It is ready for immediate use after purchase.
