We have just received a vintage chronograph "sherpa graph" from "enicar", which was founded in 1854 and whose brand symbol is the mark of Saturn.
It is called the Jim Clark model because "Jim Clark," the legendary F1 world champion from the 1960s, was a favorite.
A former paratrooper officer and apprentice Rolls-Royce engineer, he began racing at age 19 in a 3-liter Bentley.
This watch was manufactured from 1960 to 1969, and there were various variations of dials.
One way to identify the Sherpa graph version is the tachymeter base 1000 on the inner tachymeter bezel.
The Mk1a version is labeled "tachymeter base 1000",
In Mk1b, it is not indicated (it is blank), and from Mk1c onward, it is indicated as "tachymeter".
If you would like to check the difference, we have other models with other mark numbers in our other products.
The case is manufactured by epsa (Ervin Piquerez sa), famous for its super compressors, and the back is decorated with a four-leaf clover.
The crown is decorated with the famous crosshatch engraving found on the Super Compressor diver's watch.
Marks 1-3 have Enica's distinctive paddle hands, which are found in early graph series such as this one, while Mark 4 has pencil hands.
The Valjoux 72 chronograph movement in this particular timepiece is said to be one of the finest chronograph movements ever made and is highly regarded by watch collectors.
It is an excellent movement that can be used for a lifetime as long as it is maintained once every 3-4 years, and even today, the movement alone trades for 300,000-400,000 yen, making it a very valuable movement.
The face design is subdued, with a matte black dial with gray indices and very distinctive features such as box-shaped indexes, luminescence, and rectangular paddle-style hands.
The patina-like dial with just the right amount of patina creates an exotic atmosphere that will give the wearer a warm and welcoming look.
