It is called the Jim Clark model because "Jim Clark," the legendary F1 world champion from the 1960s, was a favorite. A former paratrooper officer and apprentice Rolls-Royce engineer, he began racing at age 19 in a 3-liter Bentley. This watch was manufactured from 1960 to 1969, and there were various variations of dials. One way to identify the Sherpa graph version is the tachymeter base 1000 on the inner tachymeter bezel. The Mk1a version is labeled "tachymeter base 1000", In Mk1b, it is not indicated (it is blank), and from Mk1c onward, it is indicated as "tachymeter".
