The watch has an unusually decorative enamel dial with Arabic numerals and an embedded, off-center second hand on the 6th position. It is hand wound and then runs quite accurately for about 24 hours. The watch can be worn as a traditional pocket watch, but certainly attracts more attention as a very decorative necklace watch. The name "Lydia" is engraved on the gold-plated and beautifully decorated watch case. Perhaps a Lydia will be found as a new owner? Elgin is together with Waltham the most famous watch manufacturer in the usa. In the town of Elgin near Chicago, the company began producing watches in 1867 and quickly became the world's leading manufacturer of watches. The pocket watches from Elgin are characterized by particularly beautiful case decorations and dials. Likewise, the movements are also embossed with filigree engravings, comparable to the movements of the Waltham company. This watch from Elgin is not only an artistic piece of jewelry, but also promises a high appreciation potential. It is delivered in a casket for pocket watches.
