Chopard St. Moritz 8319

Description

Chopard St. Moritz Automatik Edelstahl Ref. 8319

The Chopard manufactory is better known for elegant jewelry watches and exclusive jewelry than for sports watches. This was already the case in 1979, when Karl-Friedrich Scheufele had a business meeting with customers in Hong Kong. For this appointment, Mr. Scheufele wore a prototype of the St. Moritz and briefly immersed it in a champagne cooler filled with ice water without knowing whether the watch would survive the treatment. Two hours later, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele fished a perfectly running watch out of the ice water. This demonstration was so impressive that when the model was launched at the watch and jewelry fair in Basel in 1980, 1,000 units were sold within a few days. A remarkable figure at the time. The Chopard St. Moritz was thus the first waterproof sports watch from Chopard and also the first watch that Chopard produced in a stainless steel case. The main reason for its success was that the St. Moritz collection achieved the perfect symbiosis between sporty and elegant design, making the timepiece a companion in all situations. The Chopard St. Moritz reference 8319 presented here is an automatic watch made of durable stainless steel with a date display between four and five o'clock. The snow-white dial is set with Roman indices and guarantees excellent legibility. Another special feature is the St. Moritz bracelet made of stainless steel, which can be shortened at any point thanks to its individually screwed links. With a diameter of 33 mm, this sporty timepiece fits on a woman's wrist and is equally at home at a business lunch or on the sports field. The watch was certainly only worn a few times by the previous owner, which is reflected in its exceptionally good condition. There is no discernible loss of tension on the bracelet in particular.
