A game-changer engineered by extraordinaire Kikuo Ibe, the G-Shock phenomenon of the world’s toughest watch took the world by storm since the 80s. The Dream Watch took over a decade to materialize in its solid-gold form, from clasp to its tiny screw executed entirely in 18K gold. The genesis of the precious metal G-Shock originated in 2007 with Kikuo Ibe, and Yasuyuki Lima (the founder of Japanese retailer Eye Eye Isuzu) who wanted a symbolic product for the iconic digital wristwatch born in Japan. Weighing a whopping 297g (10oz), only 35 pieces were made for this mirror-polished hefty G-D5000, and were allocated to collectors via ballot in Japan at first. Extremely sought-after the model was sold out in a breeze and have become one of the most coveted G-Shock made. An incredibly rare collector’s item that deserves the best, its packaging also celebrates Japanese culture with its Kiri-Bako (paulownia wood box) stamped with a Hanko seal translates to “Gravity Dream Project”. Unboxing the kiri-bako reveals a cool pitch black Nambu Tekki cast iron kettle produced by Oigen iron foundry in Oshu Japan since 1852. A celebration of tradition and innovation, the kettle also marks the Dream Project with an appearance of the G-D5000 on the underside of the kettle lid. Well-preserved by its original Japanese owner who purchased this gem at Takashimaya Osaka, Phillips is honored to auction the origin of the Dream Project.
