Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Hours

Introduced at SIHH 2013, the Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Hours is presented in a 42 mm rose gold case, and exemplifies the brand’s blend of classic design and inventive mechanical artistry. Its design maintains a broad, flat profile, allowing the watch to wear comfortably even on smaller wrists. The dial showcases Cartier’s “mysterious” hour display, with two broadsword-style hands appearing to float over a silvered, layered dial. The hands are mounted on sapphire discs driven by hidden peripheral pinions, a system inspired by Cartier’s historic mystery clocks. The watch is fitted with a black alligator strap, featuring a Louis Cartier–style deployment clasp that allows continuous adjustment without traditional perforations. Powering the watch is the in-house 9981 MC movement, 31.9 mm in diameter, operating at 4 Hz with 27 jewels and a 48-hour power reserve. The movement is decorated with snailing, mirror-polished screws, and beveled bridges. The Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Hours combines traditional craftsmanship with an unconventional display, offering a visually engaging and mechanically sophisticated wristwatch.
