Nicknamed La Panthère for her bold personality and penchant for panther furs, Toussaint wove the exotic cat motif into many of Cartier's jewelry pieces. Fifty years later in 1983, the Maison would pay homage to the iconic big cat with the launch of the Panthère de Cartier watch collection. Compared to the bold black onyx, gold, and diamond-set examples of the Maison's earlier creations, the Panthère de Cartier watch features the brand's emblem in a rather subtle manner, as it was named after the flexible bracelet that mimics a panther's graceful movement. Considered unisex by most, the Panthère has been adored by both men and women alike, and is often seen in mainstream culture and frequently spotted on the wrists of Hollywood royalty.
