Description

Cartier Normal Tank Ref: 78093

The first Cartier Tank model was designed by Louis Cartier in 1917. In 1918, after the First World War, Cartier presented the first model to General Pershing. The watch was then marketed from 1919, meeting with success and quickly being sold across the Atlantic. It is a square wristwatch, like the Cartier Santos created in 1904. Its shape, with the "stretchers" extending from the case, brings it closer to the appearance of an assault tank of the time, and in particular the Renault FT tank seen from above: the stretchers represent the tracks and the dial the cockpit. Despite this martial inspiration, it is slim and light, and intended for both men and women. Cartier Tank Normale watch reference 78093 from the 1970s. Yellow gold case, mounted on a leather strap and signed yellow gold folding clasp. Hand-wound mechanical movement. Dimensions: 20 x 27.6 mm (including handles). Available at 28 rue Madame Ref: ADM31503
