Breitling 1970s Ref. 817 CP1 chronograph Italian Army issued

Breitling 817 chronograph, commissioned by the Italian Army in the middle 70's, were given to helicopter pilots. Only 500 pieces were made, we can say this is one of the rarest collection of military chronograph produced. The watch war realized for Helicopter pilots and the Paracadutisti R.A.O “Folgore” form a division within the Italian Special Forces; “Folgore” meaning “Lightning” and “La Folgore” “The Thunderbolt”, inspiring vivid imagery of paratroopers’ reeking destruction from above. This Breitling 817, with serial number engraved EI 476 has a stainless steel screw back case with round pushers, it measures 39.5 mm. featuring a black aluminium, PVD coated bi-directional rotating bezel. Powered by an hand-wound Valjoux calibre 236 movement Breitling signed, fitted with its original, expanding bracelet. Overall in mint condition.
