After founding his brand in 1775, he would go on to pioneer several technologies core to the industry even today, such as the tourbillon and the Breguet overcoil hairspring. In his lifetime, he would go on to create watches for many monarchs as well as the French Navy. For all of Breguet’s life, his main focus was pocket watches. Indeed, wristwatches only entered prevalence after the Great War in the 20th century. The present reference 1800, produced in exceedingly limited quantities and housing a perpetual calendar, is very much a tribute to the man himself.
