Blancpain Léman Fly-Back 2185F 18k Chronograph - Full Set
Blancpain is the oldest watchmaking company, dating back to 1735. The brand has weathered centuries and has a rich history of heritage, craftsmanship and innovation. Credited with what we know as the modern dive watch, their now iconic Fifty-Fathoms just celebrated its 70th anniversary, having been released the same year as the Rolex Submariner in 1953. Although Blancpain might not be the first name to come to mind for many, the brand is seeing more deserved attention as collectors unpack their fantastic contribution to the world of horology.
This Léman Flyback circa early 2000's is a neo-vintage gem offering great value. It houses a high-grade F185 movement which was initially introduced in 1989. Amazingly, it is still the thinnest automatic chronograph caliber to this day. The case dimensions are elegant with a width of 38mm, a short lug length of 42mm and a thin overall height of just 11mm. The case was initially rated for 100 meters of water resistance, thanks to its screw down pushers. With a pressure test this will be a practical feature for use on rainy days. The lacquer dial offers immense depth being stepped in multiple levels. The large Arabic numerals feature generous amounts of lume and hark back to early military watches of the 1930s. Even the sub-register hands are lumed - a feature we hardly see elsewhere. This 18k yellow gold example elevates this model and feels a cut above the standard steel piece. It remains in excellent shape with a mint dial and strong case. We believe it looks attractive on a number of strap options, including Hermes classic brown. Offered complete with its warranty card, boxes, 18k deployant and booklets, this stunning chronograph is ready for its next chapter of enjoyment.
