Audemars Piguet Duzium 9
You're in for a treat. This is an extremely rare and collectible piece--one of the thinnest mechanical watches ever made. Perfect conversation starter at dressy occasions, and unisex in my opinion.
The 17 jewel calibre 2003 movement inside this extraordinary piece was a joint venture between Jaeger-LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin, and Audemars Piguet. At just 1.64 mm thick, it was at the time the thinnest movement ever made.
The case is milled from a billet of 18k white gold, signified by the Swiss Helvetia hallmark and 0.750 stamped on the inside of the case back. The case back has an extra design to protect the crown and stem that you don’t normally see, but ultrathin watches like this cannot also be rugged so that extra support has helped keep everything straight and true.
As with many watches of this vintage, it is not flawless. The case back has a few tool marks on it, and the glass has a tiny nibble near 11 (I have to look very hard to even see it). The case has not been polished, making it more desirable to true collectors (and given the fact that the case is 3.8 mm thick, polishing it would be pure folly).
The dial is white and in remarkable condition for its age. To see another ultra thin AP of this quality you'd probably have to go to the AP Museum. It was serviced three years ago and keeps accurate time. Audemars Piguet Duzium 9
