Commissioned by Audemars Piguet, the Royal Oak was introduced in 1972 and marketed as the first luxury sports watches encased in stainless steel. Though not gaining immediate success at the time of its launch, today, the Royal Oak has become a classic icon among collectors, most beloved for its tapisserie dial and octagonal bezel. The present watch has been kept in excellent overall condition.
