From its inception, the brand has been family-owned and has remained independent throughout its history. With over a century of watchmaking expertise, AP has built a reputation for producing exceptional timepieces. The brand has a rich heritage of innovation, craftsmanship, and technical mastery. AP watches are renowned for their meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. Each timepiece is hand-finished by skilled artisans, who employ traditional techniques passed down through generations. Throughout its history, AP has been at the forefront of horological innovation. The brand has introduced numerous groundbreaking complications, including the world's first minute-repeating wristwatch in 1892 and the first perpetual calendar wristwatch in 1957. Here we have an Audemars Piguet Classic Cal 2120 produced circa 1960s. For AP Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a simple yet gorgeous AP Cal 2120 36 Jewel Automatic housed in a 18K Gold Case that is breathtaking in so many ways and in excellent mint condition as one can see. This seldom seen vintage AP has a Gold Dial, Black 3D Baton Indices and Hands that underwent a good and thorough cleaning to reveal pure class. The mineral crystal is original and in mint condition. The classical designed 18K solid gold case was also carefully cleaned to remove age marks, and miniscule hairline scratches caused by aging were buffed away. The crown is located at the traditional 3H positions and nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags. The unsigned crown is original and in near mint condition. The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 27 March 2024. Hence, it underwent an overhaul and should be able to operate without hinderance until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind. Equipped with the Cal 2120 movement constructed from stainless steel, it has an impressive 36 Jewels and operate at 19,800 BPH. The time-grapher, after 60 hours of calibration, shows excellent readings i.e. rate of +30 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 222 with a continual straight line! Such readings are extremely exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course, the painstaking expert calibration. To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original AP components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts. The case width and height are approximately 32.5mm (without crown) and 37mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm, and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 20cm; hence, suitable for men and the women. Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested. A hi-quality Paros Brand genuine leather strap with gold buckle is provided as part of the deal. The pictures provided shows the watch in pristine condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided. This rare timepiece will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone, and its value will appreciate over time. Should the Buyer wishes the watch authenticated by the AP Singapore office, the additional cost for this is S$ 1,800.00. This is a highly sort-after Collectible AP in pristine condition; so, be unique and own a watch that is almost impossible to source. In fact, purchase it as an investment or for the next generation to appreciate.
