The 44mm diameter solid open-worked barrel-shaped case, flat ceramic octagonal bezel with 8 face screws, and hooded downturned lugs, are matte black carbon/ceramic/titanium. The dial is skeletonized with a linear chronograph minute counter at 3 o'clock with white Arabic numerals, skeletonized steel broad baton hour and minute hands with luminous inserts, and a luminous white center sweep second hand with a wedge counterbalance. It has a tourbillon at the 9 o'clock position, a triangular 3-position crown selector at 6 o'clock, and there is a matching triangular power reserve indicator with a red scale at 12 o'clock. It has an angled black perimeter inner bezel with a luminous white minute chapter ring with rectangular hour indices. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, it has a 237-hour/10-day power reserve at full winding, and the 16mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph 26265FO.OO.D002CR.01 has a mechanical manual winding Audemars Piguet caliber 2895 column wheel chronograph movement. It has a tourbillon escapement with over 70 components, a carbon mainplate with anodized aluminum bridges, a green eloxed aluminum central bridge, 34 jewels, 388 components, a PVD coated monometallic balance, and an anti-shock system. It includes a mobile stud balance-spring and variable inertia screws. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph 26265FO.OO.D002CR.01 was released in 2008, one of the first watches to have both the case and components of the movement made out of forged carbon. Only 60 examples were made each year. The Royal Oak Concept line is Audemars Piguet’s playground. Think of it as the equivalent of Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works or Google’s X Development group. Borrowing the idea of a concept car, the line was conceived to give the watchmakers at AP the chance to test the limits of their technical prowess and employ futuristic avant-garde design. The first Concept watch, the CW1 was introduced in 2002 in a limited edition of 150 pieces. The Concept watches all share the same general case design, an ultramodern interpretation of the Royal Oak case, and most don’t just innovate mechanically, but also employ cutting-edge materials like titanium, carbon, and ceramics. The Concept line has been the staging area for a number of tourbillon watches. Driving the display is the 388-component Audemars Piguet Calibre 2895. This in-house, handwound caliber not only features the tourbillon escapement visible from the dial, but the column-wheel chronograph is fully integrated. The balance is PVD coated and features a mobile stud balance-spring and variable inertia screws. The mainplate (which doubles as the dial) is made of carbon and the bridges are anodized aluminum, while the central bridge is greened aluminum. The materials aren’t all that wows here, though. The 34-jewel movement features a double cone power reserve mechanism and twin mainspring barrels for a staggering 10 days of power. That kind of power reserve is welcome in such a watch, as it means the Royal Oak Concept Carbon can fit into a collector’s regular rotation without winding all the way down between wears. The movement beats at 3hz. Audemars Piguet once again stuns the world of horology with its Royal Oak Carbon Concept Tourbillon and Chronograph This model also features an original linear chronograph minute counter. The extremely light timepiece also incorporates the complexity of a 384-part Calibre 2895 tourbillon chronograph movement. - Black case made by forged carbon fibers - an extremely light weight & hard material. - Ceramic bezel, crown & pushers. - Movement mainplate (which doubles as the dial) & the baseplate are made of forged carbon. - The central bridge is green eloxed aluminum - some of which is visible through the case back. - Power Reserve indicator at the 12 o'clock position. The watch has an amazing 10 day power reserve is achieved through the use of 2 barrels. Each barrel is wound by a mere 19.75 turns. Although the use of 2 barrels allow for a power reserve of 290 hours, however, an ingenious locking system - in the low and high winding-level zones - concentrates the running time on a 237-hour period, thereby ensuring optimal operation. Chronograph/Stopwatch function: - Large central sweep seconds counter hand. - An ingenious linear 30 minute counter. The single minutes from 0-9 to the left of the linear counter & immediately to the right 1 & 2 increments indicating when the counter is at 10 or in the 20 minutes counting. Selection Indicator at the 6 o'clock position: - H indicates that the crown is in the Time Correction position. - N indicates that the crown is in the Neutral position. - R indicates that the crown is in winding position. Tourbillon- At the 9 o'clock position is composed of more than 70 parts & weighs just under 0.45 grams. The Tourbillon is secured by a matching bridge to the linear 30 minute chronograph counter lending symmetry to the dial.
