Large astronomical pocket watch in the shape of a celestial sphere; silver and pink gold -- Silver and pink gold, pocket watch in the shape of a celestial sphere, with subsidiary dial for the hours at 3 o’clock and five horological and astronomical complications: · Date of the month (subsidiary dial at 11 o’clock)
· Day of the week with corresponding planet (aperture at 9 o’clock)
· Month of the year with its duration and season (aperture at 1 o’clock)
· Periods of the day with the changing sky (aperture at 5 o’clock)
· Age and phases of the moon (subsidiary dial at 7 o’clock) -- Case: modelled in the form of a celestial sphere, with applied pink gold figural representations of the constellations engraved with their names; the band with applied pink gold symbols of the zodiac. One of the half-spheres pivots on itself, in line with the vertical axis of the pendant and the bow, to reveal the watch face, with a removable glass bezel mounted on a bayonet. Dial: gilt false-plate, engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with foliage, silver chapter ring with black painted radiating Roman numerals for the hours, silver chapter rings with radiating Arabic numerals for the dates and the lunations, silver discs for the days, months and daytime periods with changing skies; blued steel hour-hand and indexes. Movement: calibre manual-winding, unjewelled, full plate, gilded brass, ‘Tulip’ pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance with three arms (polished iron), blued steel hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded continental one-foot cock, silver regulator disc with Arabic numerals and blued steel index (to adjust the active length of the balance spring). Winding and time-setting using a key independent of the watch.
