Inspired by their 1960s doctors watch, Angelus collaborated with Massena Lab in 2023 to create a limited edition faithful re-interpretation of their early medical chronograph, limited to just 99 pieces. Boasting an opaline silver dial with a dual scale for reading the vital signs doctors need during patient examinations: a pulsometer – to measure the patient’s pulse – and an asthmometer – to record their respiratory rate, this timepiece pays homage to the mid-century trend of watchmakers creating specialized chronographs to meet specific functional or professional requirements. Increased in size to 39mm to make its dial mor legible, the ref. 0.CHAS.A01A that we have here takes a mid-century inspiration and injects it with a modern sense of design. Powered by the manual-wind cal. A5000, this timepiece offers the finest level of watchmaking Angelus has to offer, with its small seconds subdial residing at 9 o’clock so as to leave the asthmometer uninhibited.
