1940s ANGELUS Vintage Men's Triple Calendar Chronograph, 18K Gold-Plated - The Chronodato
Original and Iconic - Large and Complex Design
Presenting a stunning, fully original example of the Angelus Chronodato.
This watch features a bold aviator-style chronograph design, offering functionality with its triple calendar complications that display the date, day, and month. A timeless piece that combines style and practicality.
Unlike other brands which utilized movements from other manufacturers (e.g., Valjoux), Angelus engineered and produced everything in-house, from design and development to manufacturing and assembly.
At the heart of the watch is the Angelus caliber SF 217, which builds upon their SF 215 movement. Notably, the SF 215 was the foundation for Panerai’s iconic Mare Nostrum chronograph, making the Chronodato's movement a sibling to one of Panerai's first chronographs.
Historical Background
Introduction Year: The Angelus Chronodato was introduced in 1942 and was among the first wristwatches to feature a full calendar with a chronograph. This innovation made it revolutionary at the time.
Market Position: Angelus was highly regarded for its chronographs and complications, rivaling brands like Universal Genève and Heuer. The Chronodato solidified Angelus as a leader in functional, accessible complications.

Servicing and Performance
This timepiece was serviced in 2024 by master watchmaker Pawel Kowalczyk.
The watch is currently running and keeping time well. However, accuracy cannot be guaranteed. It has been observed that the watch may stop intermittently when the chronograph is engaged over a 24-hour period.
A rare and remarkable piece, ideal for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage horology.
