A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia 380.027

Description

2010s A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Automatic Ref. 380.027

A Saxonia with a gorgeous silver dial, a thin white gold case, and the A. Lange & Söhne L086.1 automatic movement. The A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia has become one of the brand’s most accessible and diverse lines since it was released during the company's re-birth in 1994. Named after the state in which the manufacture resides, the Saxonia is known for its reserved styling and simple execution that retains the same level of craftsmanship as the company’s flagship offerings. Over the years these watches have been offered in a variety of sizes and designs ranging from 34mm hand-wounds to 40.5mm automatics with outsized date complications. In 2015, A. Lange & Söhne updated its Saxonia Automatic with a refined dial layout, and among the new configurations was the reference 380.027. While part of the standard collection rather than a strictly numbered limited edition, it was produced in relatively low quantities as a specialized offering before being succeeded by the blue-dial 'Blue Series' variant (380.028) in 2017. The automatic Saxonia here features the crisp argenté dial, which provides a bright, velvety silver backdrop for the polished white gold baton indexes. Standing at a remarkably svelte 7.8mm, it remains the thinnest self-winding watch ever crafted by the manufacture. A masterclass in German restraint with the exquisitely finished caliber L086.1 inside, this Saxonia Automatic hits all the right notes as an essential daily-wear dress watch.
