A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus 463.178

Description

A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus Chronograph ref. 463.178

Up for grabs is an A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus Chronograph Ref. 463.178 in stainless steel. Limited to just 100 pieces, this is a historically important modern Lange the first Odysseus Chronograph and the first automatic chronograph ever produced by the manufacture. Powered by the entirely new Calibre L156.1, the movement was developed specifically around the Odysseus platform while preserving the oversized day and date displays that define the collection. Though the watch may initially resemble a split-seconds chronograph, the central display actually combines the chronograph seconds hand with a stacked 60-minute totalizer. The pushers are particularly clever. While visually similar to the day and date correctors found on standard Odysseus models, they serve dual functions. With the crown screwed down, they operate the chronograph. Once the crown is unscrewed, the same pushers become quick-set correctors for the calendar displays. The watch also features a fascinating “dynamic reset-to-zero” system. When resetting the chronograph, the red central seconds hand rapidly spins backwards or forwards depending on elapsed time, performing multiple revolutions in a visually dramatic way before returning to zero. The new 42.5mm stainless steel case combines brushed and polished surfaces with a screw-down crown and sapphire crystals front and back. The textured black dial features oversized day and date apertures, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, and the central chronograph display with red chronograph seconds hand. The integrated steel bracelet includes Lange’s quick-adjustment system. This example remains in excellent, barely worn condition and is offered as a complete set with all special A. Lange & Söhne boxes, manuals, and papers dated May 2026.
