Lange & Söhne presented the world's first mechanical wristwatch with a power reserve of 31 days and a fusee and chain mechanism that continuously supplies the going train with a constant driving force. The enormous drive energy is stored in a massive double mainspring barrel. In order to be able to release the energy in a controlled manner, a fusee and chain mechanism, specially designed for the Lange 31, was integrated into the movement. The movement number 80001 indicates that this was the first platinum model of the Lange 31. For the exportation of this item a CITES license is required.
