Small specs of metal are adding to the resin before being fired in a kiln, making the dial appear like the night sky. Furthermore, the outsized date window if executed in a matching navy color, a thoughtful design choice from the German manufacture.
The Lange 1
Introduced in 1994, the Lange 1 was the first A. Lange & Söhne watch of the new era and represented a culmination of what connoisseurs of fine watches associate with the brand's legendary heritage. The patented, oversized date demonstrates how tradition and ingenuity can come together in style. This useful display, inspired by the historical clock with a digital display in Dresden's Semper Opera, improves the legibility of the date by about three times in comparison with conventional displays. On the Lange 1, there is also a pusher at 10 o'clock to instantaneously advance the date.
