Decades later, A. Lange & Söhne is one of the most important brands specializing in craftsmanship and movement decoration, and designs and produces some of the most exquisite complicated movements in the industry. Walter Lange passed away in 2017, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. To honour their modern founder, the brand produced a limited series of wristwatches containing Walter’s favourite complication: dead beat seconds. Though not the most useful of functions, the mechanical complexity required to focus a precise pulse of energy from the mainspring to jump the large seconds hand once per second is not to be underestimated, hence its high regard in the watchmaking space. The magnitude of engineering a totally new complication, only to be used in a very limited series of watches, makes the present A.
