Gerald Genta, still heralded as one of the most innovative jewellery and watch designers, designed for Van Cleef much later on his career. He had already by this point designed the Polerouter, the Nautilus, the Midas and many other significant and distinctively different case designs. In the case of this Van Cleef watch, he chose to return to one of his favourite shapes to use in design, the hexagon, and once again experimented with texture and form combining wood, steel and diamonds.
