Description

Vacheron Constantin Malte Retrograde Platinum 47247/000P

Launched in 2002 to celebrate Vacheron Constantin’s 247th anniversary, the Vacheron Constantin Malte Retrograde Day Date Openworked ref. 47247 is an exquisite timepiece that combines masterful artistry with exceptional functionality and craftsmanship – like so many of Vacheron’s other incredible timepieces. Offered as a individually numbered limited release of 247 pieces, the ref. 47247 is offered with a classically sized 37mm platinum case that boasts elaborate Art-deco inspired lugs alongside a sweeping midcase and a stepped bezel. Combining with this elaborate construction is the ref. 47247’s openworked dial that provides a perfectly unobstructed view of its automatic cal. 1126/1 movement from the dial side which includes a Maltese cross at the center, a retrograde date display in the northern hemisphere, and a subdial for the month at 6 o’clock. With its silver chapter ring surrounding the periphery of the display, the ref. 47247 retains some practical legibility while also not sacrificing its incredible aesthetic. With its monochromatic color scheme, incredible crasftmanship and impressive luxurious finishings, the ref. 47247 is a wonderful example of Vacheron’s ability to step outside of their comfort zone and produce a watch that defies their traditionally reserved sense of design. THE DIAL While entirely practical thanks to its silver chapter ring, the ref. 47247's openworked dial does more to reveal the incredible craftsmanship that was necessary to produce its incredible movement. THE CONSTRUCTION Made of platinum, and featuring a silver dial alongside an openworked view of its automatic cal. 1126/1 movement, the ref. 47247 is understated in its monochromatic aesthetic, but avant-garde thanks to the complexity of its movement's architecture.
