Condition Report*: Type: Universal Geneve Rare Stainless Film Compax Chronograph Wristwatch. Ref: 22522. Circa 1945 Signed: dial, case and movement signed by maker Model: Film Compax Dial: satin silver with red and black outer scales to measure the amount of film used in feet. Hands: with steel blue leaf hands Metal: stainless steel Case: ##1174533 Case Info: three piece snap case Case Width: 37mm Crystal: acrylic Watch Movement: UG caliber 287, 17 jewel manual wind chronograph movement. #261433 Band: used modern generic brown leather strap with a generic stainless buckle Circa: 1945 Condition: The watch is in very good condition. The watch remains unpolished. There are some, to be expected, tiny "pry marks" on the side of the case but no dings or scratches of note. A spray of tiny "age spots" which tend to concentrate towards the edge of the dial. Initially appearing to be drag lines on the sub-dials is upon closer inspection oil/grime which may have penetrated from below the dial. Slight deterioration on the edge of the dial between 78 and 90. Some micro flaking to some of the red scale numbers and curved consistent micro scratch from approximately 2 to 4. Tiny black "smudge" under the red 36 at 12. The watch currently sets, runs and the chronograph function operates correctly but there is only one watchmakers scratch on the inside of the case back, thus it is assumed the watch has not seen service in decades and a fresh service is required for accurate timekeeping, function and longevity. *Heritage Auctions strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
