Very reluctant sale! It took me several years to track down this grail watch from my birth year but sadly I need to sell it.
The Tudor Date Day Jumbo Ref. 7020/0 is a discreet, sporty alternative to the Rolex Day-Date. The watch is fitted with a steel bi-directional ‘Turn-O-Graph’ rotating bezel giving a strong sports look.
It is a classic vintage steel dive-style watch and one of very few of its era that was made in a modern size - 39mm (41mm with crown). It is therefore ideal for someone seeking a vintage watch or birth year watch and are finding that the majority of watches of that time - 1969 - are just too small at 35-36mm. My wrist is 19cm.
This Tudor Date+Day houses the Tudor Auto-Prince caliber. It’s based on the reliable AS 1895 automatic caliber and features the ‘Tudor AUTO-PRINCE’ signature on the rotor. The watch is in good unrestored condition. Has various marks and patina which are to be expected of a 1969 watch. Dial is excellent. The case serial number dates the watch to 1969.
As was not uncommon for the time, the watch uses a Rolex case and bracelet (Jubilee 62510H bracelet). The bracelet alone is a sought-after item, and is part of the reason for the price when compared to others. It could be split from the watch but it suits it very well. There are no spare links and the bracelet is currently set to fit my 19cm wrist. There are two more spaces available on the micro adjust to give another 7.5mm of size if you need the bracelet larger.
The watch was serviced in June 2021 (£295) and also in 2011 (new glass) so runs fine as you would expect. Timeograph reports -5sec per day with a beat error of 0.1ms. Comes with the box and copies of the two service receipts. Available to view in London.
