Tudor Ranger 2023 Full Set | 9.5 condition This reference 79950 Tudor Ranger celebrates the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition, which launched in July 1952 as a scientific mission to carry out studies in glaciology, meteorology, geology and physiology.
Members of the expedition wore Tudor watches to assist with their investigations, needing them to be robust, legible and capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and conditions.
This 2023 version is a modern interpretation of Tudor watches from that era, combining vintage inspiration with up-to-date technology. The matt black dial features oversized lumed numerals, in a simple 12, 3, 6, 9 layout. The hands are also lumed, with a generously lume-filled spear-tipped hour hand. A flash of red on the tip of the seconds hand provides the only colour on the dial.
The 39mm steel case has a predominantly brushed finish, with some carefully polished surfaces used to highlight the edge of the lugs. The crown is decorated with the Tudor rose and being screw-down means that the case is water resistant to 100m.
Underneath a solid case back, the watch is powered by Tudor’s reliable Manufacture Calibre MT5402 automatic movement, which offers a COSC certification and a 70-hour power reserve.
The watch is presented with a steel bracelet, fitted with Tudor’s “T-fit” clasp making it quick and easy to adjust the size by 8mm without the need for any tools. This watch would also look great on any number of straps, from vintage leather, sporty rubber or coloured NATOs.
