Description

Tudor Black Bay "Watches for Good" Google Special Edition 79030N Unveiled in 2012 at Baselworld, the Tudor Black Bay has quickly become one of Tudor’s best-selling collections as it takes direct inspiration from the iconic Tudor Submariner ref. 7922. Seeking to build on the aesthetics of the early Submariner models, the Black Bay family is beloved by Tudor’s collectors for its vintage-inspired design traits like its faux-rivet bracelet, gilt inscriptions, anodized aluminum bezel insert, and large crown. Further refined in 2018, Tudor launched the Black Bay Fifty-Eight as they dove even deeper into their archives and drew inspiration from their 1958 Submariner “Big Crown” Ref. 7924. With its red arrow-featuring dive bezel, thinner profile and 2mm smaller case diameter of 39mm, the BB58, as it is called, was a more refined version of its older sibling, with the very same depth rating of 200m – a true dive watch. Receiving intensely positive reception straight away, the BB58 has quickly become Tudor’s most popular watch. Indeed, such a positive reception has even caught the eye of Watches for Good, a private group of watch enthusiasts at Google who raffle off watches in order to raise money for charities across the world. Collaborating with the authorised dealer Reis Nichols, Watches for Good celebrated their link to Google on this limited edition BB58. Limited to just 260 pieces, each watch features Google’s colors across the dial periphery at 6 o’clock and an individually numbered caseback that features the numerical formula for a googol, the very large number (one followed one hundred zeros) that Google is named after. THE DIAL A subtle reminder of Watches for Good's origins, the Watches for Good BB58 features the six colors that are found in Google's iconic logo at 6 o'clock in celebration of the company the group's founders work for. THE CASEBACK Representing the vast amounts of information stored by Google, the company named themselves after the unfathomably large number a googol - one followed by 100 zeros. This decimal notation for a googol is engraved on the Watches for Good limited edition along with the individual number of each watch, with this example being number 210 of 260.
