Tissot Navigator - Gold and Steel - Automatic with Day and Date - Chronograph - c.1971

Case Stainless Steel Condition 9/10 Year Box/Papers No/No Founded in 1853 in the Swiss Jura mountains, Tissot has cemented its legacy as a pioneer in craftsmanship and innovation within the watchmaking industry. Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile established the company in Le Locle, Switzerland, with an aim to create sophisticated timepieces accessible to a broader audience. Tissot quickly gained recognition for its precision and quality, becoming a global ambassador of Swiss horology. In the early 20th century, Tissot merged with Omega, marking a significant milestone that expanded its international reach. The brand continued to innovate by introducing the first mass-produced pocket watch and the first anti-magnetic watch in the 1930s. In the following decades, Tissot's pioneering spirit led them to develop tactile watches with touch-sensitive sapphire crystals. Tissot has maintained its reputation through partnerships with various sports events, serving as official timekeeper for world championships in cycling, motorcycling, fencing, and ice hockey. What's on Offer This is a beautiful and completely original early 1970s Tissot Navigator with the rare Lemania 5012 chronograph movement. The watch is in outstanding preowned condition and looks fantastic on the wrist! At 38mm, it has great proportions and is still very comfortable on the wrist. These watches were built to be robust and were often used by military or service men and women - style and function combined perfectly in this watch. The Navigator features two chronograph hands, one to track seconds and the other one to track minutes. The chronograph hour register is positioned at six o'clock, while the running seconds register is at nine o'clock. The framed day and date aperture is at 3 o'clock. The rare gilt and steel colourway with the beautiful gilt tachymeter really pops on this watch, especially with the metallic chocolate dial - stunning! The This watch is rarely found in such exemplary condition and would make a fantastic addition to any collection - we love it!
