A Stunning, Tissot Antimagnetic Cal 27 Sub-Seconds with Black and Gilt Dial Dating to the 1940s Case Stainless Steel Condition 9/10 Year 1940 Box/Papers No/No Tissot, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, has a rich and fascinating history that spans over 160 years. Established in 1853 by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile, the brand has consistently been at the forefront of innovation in the watch industry. In its early years, Tissot focused on producing pocket watches with precision movements. The company quickly gained a reputation for excellence and accuracy, winning numerous awards for its craftsmanship. The calibre 27 featured in this watch was introduced in 1936 and was produced in Switzerland until 1949. After 1949, numerous variations were developed and manufactured until around 1961. What's on Offer This is a one-of-a-kind stunning vintage Tissot, you would find it hard to find another example like this, especially from the 1940s. Although on the small side, a 31mm case was the norm for a gentleman's watch at that period, its profile is sleek but quiet on the wrist while also having bunches of character. It being stainless steel also gives it that sturdiness you want for an everyday wearer. The case has kept its factory shine but does display light scratching and blemishes as you would expect but is mostly unnoticeable. Sitting under the original shatterproof plexiglass is a gorgeous black dial with golden accents seen in the track markings and numerals. The lume on the numerals in particular has stayed fully intact and has climatised to a really nice vanilla colour that perfectly matches the dial's other elements. And to finish off, a set of straight lumed pencil hands and a sub-seconds counter at 6 which interrupts the design excellently. The watch is running well as it should and keeps good time but may benefit from a service to get it to its best. If you do wish for it to be serviced and then given a 3-month warranty prior to purchasing we'd be happy to do that for you for an additional cost. These circumstances are reflected in the price.
