Apodados por los fanáticos por las formas únicas de sus cajas, los diseños «Samurai» y «Shogun» son modelos populares de Seiko que tienen una forma angular y son reconocibles al instante. El nuevo híbrido 4R Diver `Shogurai' toma elementos de ambos diseños tradicionales, además de agregar características modernizadas. Estéticamente, el nuevo modelo toma las asas en ángulo pronunciado del Shogun, afiladas como si estuvieran modeladas por una espada samurái, y se hace eco del diseño de la corona del modelo samurái con los contornos rectos de ambos planos. En términos de tamaño, el Shogurai se crea con una caja compacta de 41,7 mm de diámetro y un diseño delgado para un uso cómodo.
