The Seiko Sumo was first introduced in year 2007 1st Generation, Ref. SBDC001J1 Black Dial with the Seiko Cal. 6R15 with 50 Hours Power Reserve Fully Wound (Approx. 55 crown turns), Mineral Crystal, No Prospex on dial but 'Automatic' and, with it's Curvaceous and Comfortable fit, Peculiar Captivating and Delightful Case Design and Quality, Drilled Lugs, Bezel Insert that 'Curves Down' on the last portion of the inside perimeter, eliminating that tipical gap between the Crystal and flat bezel inserts , and a Classic 20 mm. Band Width, and it was an Instant Classic and a Best Seller.
The Seiko Sumo Case Design allows the Wrist Watch to be worn Fabulously on a Metal Band (a nice Uncle Seiko Jubilee ), Seiko Black Silicone Strap, or even an Elegant Leather Crocodile Band. There are not many Watches with this Gift.

The Seiko Sumo 2nd Generation was introduced in year 2015 Ref. SBDC031J1 Black Dial, Identical to the 1st Generation SBDC001J1, with the only difference that it became part of the PROSPEX Line, hence the PROSPEX Logo appeared on the Dial in lieu of the 'Automatic' writing. PROSPEX stands for 'Professional Specification'.

The Seiko Sumo 3rd and Current Generation was introduced in 2018 Ref. SPB101J1 Black Dial, with substantial changes: the Seiko Caliber implemented is the Cal. 6R35 with a 70 hour power reserve, Sapphire Crystal, different Serigraphy Font on Bezel Insert , a new Design for the Hands, and smaller hour markers on dial.
