Description

Fine and Sought After, Submariner, Automatic Wristwatch in Steel, Black Mat Dial, Reference 5512, With Warranty, Service and Invoice Model: Submariner Reference: 5512 Case Material: Stainless Steel Bracelet Material: Stainless Steel Year: 1973 Movement: Automatic Caliber: 1570 Case N°: 3 532 468 Dimensions: 40 mm Signed: Dial, movement and case Accessories: Warranty, Service and Invoice Rolex introduced the reference 5512 in 1959 as a continuation of the Submariner which launched officially in 1954 with the ref. 6200. It was the very first exponent of the Submariner family produced by Rolex with protective crown guards. The design of this new feature was subjected to different changes in the years: the first examples featured square, hard-edged crown guards which lasted for a short production run. They were followed by the pointed guards for a few years, before being replaced by the rounded guards who have remained through current generations. The lot here offered is a remarkable specimen of this last generation. The three-body tonneau case with screw-down back and crown and graduated bidirectional revolving black bezel for the decompression times are still preserved in very nice conditions. This example features the much sought-after “four-line” dial with depth rating, the wording “SUBMARINER” “SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED” are split across four lines of text. The watch is also more attractive since it is sold with its original warranty, service and invoice.
