The most important features of the new reference were a new wide graduated revolving bezel for the decompression times, a smaller winding crown (from 8 to 7mm) and a protective crown guard. The earliest models featured square type guards which were found not to be easy to use while wearing professional diver's gloves. This particular model features pointed crown guard and a 4 lines dial. This year, Rolex celebrates the 70th Anniversary of this legendary tool watch.
