Rolex Explorer II 1655
For your consideration is this extremely rare and iconic Rolex Explorer II from 1979.
Features include its original MK 4 tritium dial, original tritium hands, tritium 24-hour indicator, date function with correct 'open' 6/9 font, original MK 2 bezel, running centre seconds and screw-down crown.
The 78360 bracelet has 580 end-links and the clasp code is stamped VE, all of which are period correct. The bracelet itself is extremely well preserved, showing only very light stretch. It has all the original links (13), making it full-size.
This watch has one-owner provenance, and was acquired by us directly from the original owner. It has only ever been serviced once in its life in November 1993, and we have seen evidence to this extent. This is further backed up by a watchmaker's service engraving on the inside of the caseback which says 11/93.
We chose to preserve the watch as-is and not service it again prior to offering it for sale, however we have tested and inspected all the functions on the watch and it remains in full working order. With an amplitude of >280 degrees and timing of +4s/d, the watch is still keeping superb time, even by modern watch standards. It also passes 1-bar (10 metres) water resistance test.

The watch comes as a complete set, with its original box, papers and manuals.
Condition
The watch is preserved in excellent condition commensurate with its age, showing light wear on the case and bracelet as expected, but no signs of major dents or knocks. The dial and hands display a beautiful even patina.
