Explorer II 1655 c. 1982
This is a very good example of the iconic Rolex Explorer II, with some light and age-appropriate wear to the case, bracelet and bezel. The dial has a beautiful patina with warm creamy lume accentuating the orange GMT hand. Originally released in 1971, the ref. 1655 was the very first Explorer II produced by Rolex. Originally designed for cave explorers, it features a 24-hour hand to help them keep track of time while in the dark. Unlike subsequent Explorer II models, the 1655 has a distinctive dial and hand layout. Instead of the brand's iconic 'Mercedes' hands, the 1655 uses less flashy but equally practical pencil hands. The dial is more visually complex, with alternating hour minute markers making for a funky aesthetic.
