The second-generation Explorer II was manufactured in a very short period of time of between four to five years in the 1980s. This individual dial is called a center split dial, indicating that the spaces between the words of the upper “SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER” and the lower “OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED” are vertically aligned, making it extremely rare. It is also referred to as a Stern Dial.
