A very early example transitional model Rolex Explorer II ref 16550 serial # 8.8 million circa 1986. This is the first generation sapphire crystal Explorer II with glossy black dial with lightly contrasting patina’d luminous indexes and with matching hands. With scarce original “square font” 16550 bezel. An attractive example model previously polished, but with beefy lugs, and with clean original gloss black dial with very lightly patina’d original tritium lume plots and luminous hands.
