Rolex Explorer II 1655 Straight Hand
A classic Rolex Explorer II, ref. 1655 aka. "Orange hand" aka "Steve McQueen" aka "Freccione". Originally sold from Danish AD Klarlund the 26th of January 1976.
One of the coolest and most sought after vintage Rolex models, here in a great example from 1973 (3387xxx serial). This particular Explorer is in fine condition, with a good case with great lugs and crown guards. The watch is fitted with a Mk1 dial and Mk2 bezel, which both are period correct. The watch also features the alluring straight seconds hand and of course the characteristic orange GMT hand.
The dial has achieved a pleasant light yellow patina, matching the hands as one would hope. Previous owner had water enter the case, hence the hands dripped tritium onto the dial. In 2011 a Rolex Service Center cleaned the dial as good and gently as possible. All changed parts from service comes with the watch.
This watch sits on its original 7836 Oyster bracelet, with some stretch.
The movement is a Cal. 1575 in top condition and running perfectly.
This Explorer comes with certificate, original receipt, hand written warranty card, calendar card, changed parts, service papers in 5 year intervals from 1976 - 2011 etc.The watch:
