The present example is a 6611 and is especially desirable because of its conditions, quality and special features. Powered by the caliber 1055B, this very watch was manufactured in the early years of the introduction of the Day-Date, specifically in 1958 and its pink-gold case is still fresh as it was in that period thanks to the carefulness of the last owner. The tonneau case with screw back and reeded bezel also has a very rare and precious pink-gold “shutter” style bracelet with a fine texture. The main characteristic of this specimen is surely the gorgeous and charming black, gilt dial with unusual shaped gold applied indexes. Perfectly intact and preserved, it is even more important given the “underline” located at 6 o’clock, meaning that had been used in the tritium luminous material instead of the classical radium due to the changes in watch regulation. With dauphine hands and Spanish calendar, the present lot is truly a magnificent example of Rolex craftsmanship.
