Rolex Ref 1803 Day-Date Rare Sigma Dial, 1972 Amazing Condition

This is an incredibly well preserved and beautiful Rolex Day-Date with the rare Sigma Dial. The case is possibly unpolished with strong edges, thick lugs and deep hallmarks in the back of the case. The case has picked up a nice patina from age that gives this watch a distinctive vintage look and feel. The champagne dial is 100% perfect with no time patina or oxidation. The rare feature of this original deal from 1972 is the sigma designation. For a short time in 1970s, Rolex and Patek Phillipe stamped their dials with the Sigma symbol to denote gold markers. This effort to distinguish their watches during the quartz onslaught was never understood by customers, so the practice stopped after 4-5 years making the sigma dial quite collectible. The present example is the ultimate understated gold dress watch. We paired it with a custom grey/brown strap from ABP Paris and a solid 18k gold period-correct Rolex buckle.
