Rolex “Malachite 1601” Datejust
Up for grabs is a Rolex Datejust, reference 1601/8, cased in 18kt yellow gold, circa 1968, fitted with an extremely rare “Malachite” stone dial. The Malachite dials are some of the hardest stone dials to find, and arguably the most popular. Stone dial Datejust and Day-Dates have soared in popularity, adding a little variance to your normal fare dials of the Datejust and Day-Date models. This particular Rolex Datejust is in good vintage condition. The case has been lightly polished in the past, but shows thick and even lugs. The Malachite dial does show a few light hairline cracks to the stone, visible under a loupe or when light hits the stone at the right angle, but is overall well-preserved.
