Rolex Chronograph 6034 'Pre Daytona'

The sporty Daytona isn't elegant enough for you? How about a predecessor... A so-called "Pre-Daytona" dating back to 1953. A rare specimen and very sought-after. This example was produced in Stainless Steel and the 36mm measuring Oyster case houses the world-famous Valjoux movement cal. 72. This reliable chronograph is easy to read because of a perfect balance in the rather hectic lay-out. The blue Telemeter scale brings some color to the this magnificently aged dial. There are many configurations, in small batches, of the 6034; arguably this is the most aesthetically pleasing one. It has stretched and pointy markers, matching the leaf hands. The luminous material on both the dial and in the hands aged accordingly. The "Anti-magnetic" designation above the 6 o'clock counter on the dial is written straight, making it look slightly more contemporary than the ones with curved text. Eventhough the bracelet is subordinate to this spectacular piece of chronograph history, it is mentionable since that too is rare. Complimenting this 6034 is a uncommon "Beads of Rice" bracelet made for Rolex in the early 50's. It has straight end links and a comfortable feeling on the wrist. But most importantly, it is gorgeous.
